Sustainability

Environment

At Greta Energy, sustainability defines our purpose and practices. From our 15 MW biomass power plant to the integration of coal gasification with Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU), we are committed to reshaping steelmaking with minimal environmental impact. Our integrated plant will produce Green Pellets, low-carbon DRI, and green steel using renewable energy and advanced European technologies.

  • Ultra-Low Carbon Steel: Our steel will have a carbon footprint of less than 0.3 tCO₂ per tonne of crude steel, among the lowest globally.
  • Zero-Discharge Operations: Our plant will operate under a zero liquid discharge policy, ensuring that every drop of water is treated, recycled, and reused.
  • Circular Economy Practices: Waste heat recovery, biomass integration, and efficient resource use will drive sustainable value creation.

Through these measures, Greta Energy is setting a new global benchmark in environmentally responsible steel production.

Social

We believe that true growth must be inclusive and people-centric. Greta Energy is committed to invest ~USD 7 million over the next three years for socio-economic development projects in and around our areas of operation. This will include programs in skill development, education, healthcare, rural infrastructure, and livelihood generation, designed to uplift local communities and foster long-term growth.

In parallel, worker health, safety, and well-being are safeguarded by best-in-class occupational practices, while a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion drives our workforce. By linking industrial progress with community empowerment, Greta Energy ensures that our growth translates into shared prosperity for society.

Governance

At Greta Energy, strong governance is the foundation of our sustainability journey. Our framework is anchored on integrity, transparency, and accountability, ensuring that every decision serves the best interests of our stakeholders.

A five-member Board of Directors provides strategic oversight, policy direction, and independent judgment, steering the company in line with international best practices. Supporting the Board, a seven-member Executive Committee leads day-to-day management across operations, finance, sustainability, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring seamless translation of strategy into execution. To ensure efficiency and accountability, Greta Energy follows a system of clear delegation of power, where responsibilities are transparently defined across Board, Executive Committee, and functional leadership levels. This structured delegation provides:

  • Defined approval authorities for projects, capital expenditure, procurement, and operations
  • Checks and balances to strengthen compliance and risk management
  • Faster decision-making while upholding corporate governance standards
  • Transparency and traceability in all business processes

By combining a strong Board, an empowered Executive Committee, and a clear delegation of authority, Greta Energy ensures that governance, responsibility, and performance are fully aligned to deliver long-term stakeholder value.
